The Maryland Christian School Tournament was founded by John Curran, formerly the athletic director at Chapelgate Christian Academy. He began the basketball part of the tournament in 1996. Its intent was to honor God through the competition for the title of best Christian school teams in the state of Maryland. Three years later, John passed the reigns to Bob Topp as MCST committee president. Brian Akers, Darren Borg, David McGlone, Paul Tarry, and Amy Topp also serve on the committee.

Originally just a basketball tournament, the MCST has expanded to boys soccer and girls volleyball as well.

The fall tournaments are held in the last week of October. The basketball tournament is scheduled in the last week of February.

Specifics about these tournaments are on other pages on this site. The Maryland Christian School Tournament gives Christian Schools around the State of Maryland an opportunity to compete against other schools in a variety of sports. The tournament as well as the committee has always pointed to God to receive the glory for what our athletes accomplish and for the connections that Christian schools across the state can make.
